Once at the lodge, take some time to relax and recover from your flight. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner while receiving a detailed briefing about the next six days of adventure. This briefing includes an overview of hiking routes, wildlife safaris, cultural visits, and what to expect during your stay. The evening is also a chance to meet your guides and fellow travelers, setting the tone for a memorable experience. Dinner is included.

Day 2: Arusha National Park Hiking

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a morning drive to Arusha National Park. The park is famous for its diverse landscapes, ranging from lush rainforest to open savannah and crater lakes. Today’s activity includes a guided hike through the rainforest trails, where you may encounter colobus monkeys swinging through the trees, colorful bird species, and other small mammals. Hikes are led by experienced rangers who provide insight into the park’s ecology and wildlife. Later, visit the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, often called the “Little Serengeti,” where panoramic views provide excellent photography opportunities and a sense of the vastness of Tanzania’s natural beauty. In the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxing game drive to spot larger wildlife, including giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras, as the sun begins to set. Return to Ngurdoto Lodge or a similar lodge for dinner and overnight rest. All meals are included.

Day 3: Momella Lakes Exploration

Wake early for a guided hike around the scenic Momella Lakes, located within the foothills of Mount Meru. The lakes are known for their striking colors, abundant birdlife, and populations of hippos. Flamingos often gather in large flocks along the shore, providing incredible photography opportunities. After exploring the lakes, enjoy a picnic lunch in a serene setting surrounded by the natural beauty of the park. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to spot giraffes gracefully feeding on acacia trees, elephants moving majestically across the savannah, and zebras roaming freely. For travelers who wish to extend their immersion in nature, an optional evening nature walk is available, allowing for observation of nocturnal wildlife and the sounds of the forest at dusk. Return to the lodge for dinner, sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

Day 4: Mount Meru Base Hike

Today offers a full-day hiking adventure around the base of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest peak. The trek passes through diverse ecosystems, from dense forests to open grasslands, giving travelers the chance to observe a variety of wildlife and plant species. This hike is moderately challenging and provides opportunities for photography and nature observation. Along the route, your guide will share information about the local ecology, geology, and conservation efforts in the area. Sunset presents a spectacular backdrop for photos, as the mountain is bathed in golden light and shadows stretch across the valleys. Return to the lodge in the evening for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Cultural Village Visit & Safari Drive

Begin the day with a cultural visit to a nearby Maasai village, one of Tanzania’s most iconic communities. Engage with local villagers to learn about traditional practices, customs, and daily life. Witness the vibrant Maasai dances, admire handcrafted jewelry and artifacts, and gain a deeper understanding of their symbiotic relationship with the surrounding environment. After the village visit, enjoy an afternoon safari drive in Arusha National Park, where you may spot additional wildlife and enjoy the park’s unique landscapes during the soft afternoon light. In the evening, return to Arusha Coffee Lodge or a similar lodge for an outdoor campfire dinner, sharing experiences from the day and reflecting on both cultural and wildlife encounters.

Day 6: Departure

On the final day, wake early for an optional morning nature walk or birdwatching session, taking in the fresh air and observing wildlife in the quiet of the early day. After breakfast, transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
